- TEL 44 – Television Production – learn live-to-tape production techniques as you produce roll-in segments and serve on the studio crew of the weekly student production, Inland Valley Magazine.
- TEL 45 – Television News Production – with your media press pass, you’ll cover news, sports, entertainment and special events throughout the area and produce the IE’s only local news program, Inland Valley News. You’ll be proud to have credits on RCC TV’s award winning student productions, recognized for excellence by the Society for Professional Journalists and the Community College Satellite Network.
You’ll start building your demo reel with end credits because both Inland Valley Magazine and Inland Valley News are telecast throughout the Inland Empire on Charter Cable, Adelphia Cable and streamed throughout the state on the California Community College Satellite Network Website at http://www.cccsat.org/.
- TEL 64 – Digital Editing with Final Cut Pro – learn the latest in non-linear computer-based editing techniques taught in RCC’s high-end Graphics & Multimedia computer lab. It’s equipped with the most up-to-date Macintosh computers that are loaded with high end production software used in television, multimedia, desktop publishing and computer animation.

Telecommunications Courses
TEL 11 - Sound Record/Reinforcement 3.00 units
An introduction to and practical experience in sound recording and reinforcement
techniques and their applications. (Same as MUS-11)
• PREREQUISITE: None.
TEL 12 - History of American Film 3.00 units
Introductory survey of the history of film via screenings, lecture, video, internet
and readings about the major artistic, social, economic and technological trends
in the motion picture industry.
• PREREQUISITE: None.
TEL 38 - Television Production Project 3.00 units
Supervised production of a designated television project for cablecast as part
of a production team.
• PREREQUISITE: TEL-42, TEL-43, TEL-44 or TEL-45.
TEL 41 - Intro to Telecom 3.00 units
A survey of electronic media including the history and development of mass
media from its beginning in early radio and television to the current period of dynamic
change in the telecommunications industry.
• PREREQUISITE: None.
TEL 43 - TV Studio/Equipment 3.00 units
Introduction to the use and set-up of television production and test equipment
for in-studio productions.
• PREREQUISITE: None.
TEL 44 - Television Production 3.50 units
Basic principles of television production including operation of equipment and
the process of developing a live-to-tape program for cablecast.
• PREREQUISITE: None.
• COREQUISITE: TEL-51.
TEL 45 - Television News Production 3.50 units
An entry-level course in television news gathering and live-to-tape television
news production for cablecast. (Same as JOU-45)

TEL 48 - Short Film Production 3.00 units
Introduction to filmmaking using 16 mm film cameras; includes practical
experience in production planning, filming and post-production. Students will
incur costs of approximately $160 for film processing.
• PREREQUISITE: None.
TEL 51 - Telecommunications Lab 1.00 units
Supervised laboratory work on television production and film projects.
• PREREQUISITE: None. Completion of or concurrent enrollment in TEL/MUS-11,
TEL-42, 43, 44 or TEL/JOU-45 recommended.
TEL 52 - Telecommunications Lab 2.00 units
Supervised laboratory work on television production and film projects.
• PREREQUISITE: None. Completion of or concurrent enrollment in TEL/MUS-11,
TEL 64 - Digital Editing Principles 3.00 units
Principles and techniques of non-linear computer-based video editing.
• PREREQUISITE: None.
TEL 65 - Director’s Art in Filmmaking 3.00 units
Analysis and exploration of the principles of film aesthetics with emphasis
on director’s role; covers basic steps of film directing and differences between
expressionist and realistic film styles.
• PREREQUISITE: None.
TEL 66 - Adv. Digital Editing Concepts 3.00 units
Advanced concepts in digital video editing using Final Cut Pro and various
multimedia production programs.

TEL 68 - Story Development Process 3.00 units
An overview of the process involved in developing and pitching story ideas and
scripts to studios, production companies and networks for production consideration.

TEL 69 - Script Supervising-Film, Telev 3.00 units
Introduction to the theory and practice of script supervising for film and television production.

TEL 70 - Script Software -Final Draft 1.00 units
Skill development in the use of scriptwriting software, Final Draft and Final
Draft AV for television, film, audiovisual, and stage production.

TEL 71 - Sound Engineering-Audio, Media 3.00 units
Sound engineering techniques used to record and reinforce audio in a variety of settings using microphones, mixing boards, signal processors, and digital audio software.

Introduction to filmmaking using 16mm film cameras; includes experience
