Distinguished Professor Emerita, Philosophy
Norco College
My main areas of research are philosophy of science, with an emphasis on the social sciences, and feminist epistemology. Most recently I have been working on issues of methodology in political science including measuring democracy, the epistemology of case study research, and evidence for causal claims in the social sciences. Although retired from teaching, I continue to be engaged in many professional activities. I am a Distinguished Professor Emerita at Norco College, a research associate of the Centre for Engaging Science and Society (CHESS) at Durham University (Durham, UK), and an International Collaborator with the Narrative Science Project based at the London School of Economics and Political Science (Mary Morgan, PI). I was a Visiting Professor in the Gender Studies Department at the London School of Economics and Political Science from January-March 2019 and Visiting Fellow at the Center for Philosophy of Science, University of Pittsburgh in Spring 2017.
