TIME MANAGEMENT SUGGESTIONS
RISE AND SHINE
Get up at the same time every morning.
EAT BREAKFAST
Such as toast, cereal and a piece of fruit. Skip the doughnuts or other sugary snacks. The early sugar boost will be followed by an energy crash at school.
PLAN THE WORK AND WORK THE PLAN
Write down a detailed to-do list of daily assignments and activities and follow through on what needs doing.
SET A SIMPLE GOAL AND ACCOMPLISH IT
For example, spend 30 minutes reading or wash the dishes without being asked.
POST YOUR DAILY GOALS
Put the to-do list on the refrigerator. Ask family members to review the list and act like cheerleaders, encouraging you to complete the tasks.
OPEN A WINDOW TO THE WORLD
Read for a half hour every day. Keep a dictionary nearby so you can look up new words.
PRACTICE YOUR WRITING SKILLS
Write down the definition of words twice.
LEARN 20 NEW WORDS EACH DAY
Keep a journal of the words and definitions.
REVIEW BASIC MATH
Review and memorize basic math concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
TAKE SCHEDULED BREAKS
Get outside and walk, swim, play baseball. Anything. Just get 30 minutes of exercise a day.
ASK YOURSELF, "WHAT DID I DO TODAY?"
Meaning what did you accomplish towards achieving specific goals.
ASK YOURSELF, "WHAT DID I LEARN TODAY?"
Meaning what new information or facts did I learn today.
REVIEW WHAT'S ON THE AGENDA FOR THE NEXT DAY
Go over the next day's to-do list before going to bed.
SET ASIDE QUIET TIME
Do absolutely nothing for 10 minutes.
GOOD NIGHT
Go to bed at the same time every night.
