CIS 1A Overview

Course Description

This course is designed to help you develop necessary computer skills for today's automated offices.

Discussions and topics include computer hardware and software, the Internet, e-commerce, career opportunities, and certification in the field of computer.This course also provide extensive overview of imcrocomputer applications including Microsoft Windows XP, and Office XP (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).

Student Learning Outcomes

You shoult be able to:

  1. Identify computer concepts and terminology including input, processing, output, storage, and data communication.
  2. Solve computer problems using a word processor, a spreadsheet, and a database program.
  3. Create a slide show using a presentation graphics computer program, PowerPoint.
  4. Utilize the Internet to send e-mail, download files, and do research.

Prerequisite

None. But you must have a lot of patience and determination.

Course Structure

To be successful in this course means that you will need a computer, a data disk or flash drive. You will also need to have access to a computer that uses Windows. NOT A MACINTOSH! You also need to have Office XP installed on your computer in order to complete many of the homework assignments and quizzes.

When you have completed this course you should be able to pass an employment agency's Office XP Test, and become gainfully employed using one of the most popular software in business.
